BLUE Belt One-Steps

 

PROTOCOL:

Defender:        Kiai!

Attacker:         Step backward into Front Stance, Downblock and Kiai!
                        Then step forward into Front Stance and punch head level at Defender.

Defender:        Performs defense techniques, and ends with Kiai!
                        Then step back into defensive stance.

This protocol is repeated for each One Step self defense combination.

Defender’s 2nd four basic combinations:

1)         Step forward into a front-stance, while doing a Double-Knifehand-Block of
            the attacker’s arm.  The blocking hands then do Knife-Hand strikes to the
            Attacker’s collarbone.  Guarding with your back hand, use your front hand to
            strike groin, then with front hand do either Uppercut (to jaw), or Elbow strike
            (to side of head/jaw).

2)         Step forward into a front-stance, while “back” hand is doing outward Knife-Hand-Block
            the front hand is doing a Knifehand Strike to the opposite side of the Attacker’s neck.
            Front Hand does throat strike, groin strike, then using “back” hand that is still blocking their arm,
            grab their arm, rotate their elbow downward, strike upward with your front hand to break elbow.
            Step under their arm and pivot around to face them, pulling their arm out of your way as you "load"
            your free hand to “ready”.  When you finish moving their arm out of your way, do Ridgehand strike
            to their “face”/nose-cheek area or throat. 

3)         Step forward (and slightly “outside”) into a front stance (dodging the Attacker’s punch)
            as you do a Reverse Punch into the Attacker’s armpit.  Use this hand to then do a guarding outside
           “hammerfist” block, as the Ready hand punches into the Attacker’s ribs (blocking hand returns to
            Ready) and punches same ribs.

4)         (Take Down) Step forward into Front Stance and do upward X-block to capture
            the Attacker’s arm.  Keep control of arm as you step up and to the outside of
            the Attacker and Hammerfist their ribs.  Shift the striking hand to their shoulder, keeping
            the other hand on their wrist for guarding control.  As you shift their shoulder/weight
            backwards and down, use your same leg to crescent-sweep the Attacker’s nearest leg out.
            Follow them down and Punch face.
